JUNK FOOD ALTERNATIVES

Nothing says baseball tournament trip like kids wearing cleats and uniforms at an out of town fast food joint.  It’s the cheap and easy way to fill up a van full of kids on the way home.  But it’s probably not the best way to restore nutrients after a long day on the field.

The fact is, with a little preparation and a trip to the grocery store you can feed a van full of kids with much healthier alternatives.

Here’s some examples:

Sliced fresh fruit and cut vegetables -  Apples, Bananas, Carrots, Celery
    Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Single serving tuna with easy-open tops and crackers.
Trail mix made from dried nuts, seeds, pretzels, and fruits.
    Yogurt in single serving packages.
    Whole grain crackers.

It may be easier to pull into a fast food joint and fill up on heavily fried and salted treats, but if you want to do the kids a big favor have them eat something that will give their young bodies the vitamins and nutrients for a strong, healthy recovery.
